“I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn't say any other way--things I had no words for.”

Sneeky Peek
Things are moving along here at Mama Roux. My home line is slowly but surely coming together. I plan to do the big debut on Friday, Oct. 1. Until then, here is a peek at a few of the items that will be in the shop at the end of next week! I also will have matching window valances, table runners, quilts and pillows. I want to make it easy and affordable to redecorate your home with the seasons! Holiday accents will also make an appearance, so stay tuned!

Folksy Flannels
I received this bundle of joy last week from Above All Fabric! I ordered it knowing that I would make a nice, big, comfy quilt for our family room. Winter is approaching after all!
Well, it's day six post-op for Eliza here at Mama Roux HQ. The vicodin is still being popped every four hours and Slurpees are still being fetched. She was not able to go to school today and most likely will not go tomorrow. Our goal is Wednesday, one week post-op, fingers crossed. No sewing has been done but lots of milkshakes and mashed potatoes have been whipped up and movies watched. Thank goodness for Jack (Little Muffin). He has made sure Eliza stays comforted by his love and warmth. Such a good doggie!

A Few New Totes
This is a new shape for me, very angled and pointy. My daughter said the Paisley Pop Tote looked like a Dr Seuss bag, a little on the funky side. I can totally see it. Well, as Dr Seuss says "You're in pretty good shape, for the shape you are in". In the shop!
Friday addendum: Take a look at all of the beautiful creations over at Amy Lou Who's Sew and Tell and Quilt Story Fabric Tuesday. Some really gorgeous stuff, I'm telling ya!

Bloom in Gray, Pleated Shoulder Tote
I just love the color gray, but you know, there just is not that much gray fabric out there. I recently found this Paula Prass Woodland Delight fabric on sale and bought all of the .65 yards they had left (I try to only buy fabric if it's under $5.00/yard). It was destined to sit in my fabric closet, too precious to use, only to be pulled out when I re-organize things. I started work on a new bag and I really wanted to do something a bit different. I had this yard of black velvet ribbon I bought a while ago and I really wanted to use it. I pulled out my coveted Kaffe Fassett Brokade Floral Verdigris and immediately held it next to the gray Woodland Delight...perfect-a-mundo! The black velvet ribbon topped it all off...a sultry tote was born!
Bloom in Gray, Pleated Shoulder Tote. Smokey gray roses front a background of creamy yellow and turquoise lace from Kaffe Fassett Brokade Floral Verdigris. Paula Prass's Woodland Delight fabrics add to the dramatic effect. Large and curvaceous measuring 15"x16" with 17" strap (length, 34" overall). One large interior pocket and a magnetic snap closure. Accented with an elegant black velvet ribbon. Interfaced to add strength and durability. Fully lined, no raw edges. A very stylish diaper bag, book bag, overnight bag, or for everyday use as a generous carry-all. In the Shop!
Once again it's time for Sew and Tell Friday. Check out all the fabulous creations at Amy's blog!

Good Folks Dish Towels
Here I go again...more dishtowels. I just can't help myself. I LOVE dishtowels. Anyway, these are made with 100% Cotton Osnaburg and embellished with with Anna Maria Horner's Good Folks fabrics and a jaunty little ruffle. The folksy colors and design evokes a worldly festival of color and kindness. I'm sure I have mentioned my deep fondness for Osnaburg. I love it's natural, earthy quality. So strudy and absorbant, just what you want in a dish towel. The festive fabrics also make them pretty to look at so I'd say this is definitely a win/win situation...who's with me? In the shop!
Since it's Friday it's time for Sew and Tell with Amy Lou Who...hop on over and see what others have been up to this week. Happy Labor Day weekend everyone. Stay cool and happy!
