Children's quilts are just so much fun to make. I went back to my favorite block, the Log Cabin, to create these colorful, wonky blocks. Lots of polka dots, wild animals and bright colors against a sashing of Chocolate Kona Cotton. Of course I had to include some Robert Kaufman Metro Living zebra stripe. I like to work in the extra scraps of fabrics to the back for a nice simple accent. I absolutely love the orange polka dot binding against the dark brown boarder. This sweet quilt measures 53" x 44", a generous snuggle size for the crib, couch or Jr. bed. It's in the shop!

Sugar Bean Quilt
I really was on a roll this weekend with my quilt making. I had several Domestic Bliss charm packs in my stash and it was time to get them out and put them to use. I wanted to keep them all together in the same project as they really work so well together, a nice balance of scale and color. I used the last of this vintage fabric for the boarder and the backing, plus a few bits of Kona Cotton. I quilted it in a straight-line grid design following the lines of the existing patchwork. This quilt reminds me of a big bowl of jelly beans, hence the name, Sugar Bean!

Urban Zoo Baby Quilt
Every now and then I just get the twinge to whip up some sweet little baby quilts. A few days ago I happened to eye my grey Zoology fabric up against some of the grey and gold Echo fabrics by Lotta Jansdotter and a lightbulb went off. I basically stopped what I was doing, pulled those fabrics out along with a few others that I thought would go nicely and I was off to my cutting table to get down to business. By the next day the quilt was finished, a small stroller-sized quilt, measuring 36" x 25", perfect as a small nap time quilt or for on the go. I have to tell ya, I LOVE these small quilts. When inspiration strikes it's best to get out of my way and just let me go.
Since I was on a roll I got out some of my Domestic Bliss charm squares and I was at it again, another sweet, little, baby quilt in the works...

A Quilt for Nina
Mama has a new quilt! I created this delicious quilt using only fabrics by Anna Maria Horner, my very fave designer! I am an avid collector (insane hoarder) of her fabrics and have gathered a fine assortment of flannels, velveteens, voile, home dec, and regular old quilting cottons in shades of plums, golds, pinks and tangerine.
The random patchwork design on both the front and the back gives this quilt a casual, bohemian vibe, just perfect.
Measures 50" x 55" and fits nicely draped across our King bed as a coverlet to crawl under while taking a nice afternoon nap on a rainy day.
Jack thinks I made it just for him, little cutie. A few accent pillows are in the works which will make our bed even harder to get out of in the morning.
